197 infected in new coronavirus outbreaks at 65 schools, says Michigan’s May 3 school outbreak report Updated May 03, 2021; The data was collected on Thursday, April 29, and includes preschools and daycares in those buildings Last week, the state reported 189 infections in new outbreaks at 41 K-12 school districts. The biggest new outbreaks involves 14 children and staff at Teddy Bear Playhouse preschool in Oakland County’s Commerce Township, and 10 students at Harlan Elementary in Bloomfield Hills. K-12 school outbreaks were identified in 23 counties. Below are those outbreaks listed by county. . Allegan: Gilkey Elementary School in Plainwell, nine students; West Ward Elementary School in Allegan, two students; Fennville High School, two students.

Nick was a life-long movie buff, whom also enjoyed watching documentaries and history programs because he loved to learn. Above all else, Nick loved his mother. She was his rock. Nick always kept his family and friends laughing. He was witty, intelligent, and had a lot of random knowledge to share. Nick graduated from Traverse City Central High School, in 2013 and briefly attended Northern Michigan University alongside his sister. Nick discovered a passion for customer service. He worked a variety of jobs over the years, but particularly enjoyed his employment at Boyne Mountain Resort.

Health leaders encourage teens and young adults to get vaccinated against COVID-19

Credit klavdiyav / Adobe Stock The average age of people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Michigan has been dropping as the total number of people hospitalized with the disease rises, health officials said Thursday. Two-thirds of people hospitalized at Munson Healthcare, a network of hospitals and clinics across Northern Michigan, were under 65 years old, said the organization’s chief medical officer, Christine Nefcy. Nefcy said a high vaccination rate among the oldest members of the population was protecting them from the disease. But younger age groups, where vaccination rates are lower, were much more susceptible to the virus. “We have a much more contagious variant, and then a completely vulnerable population,” Nefcy said.
