Patriot Rail finalizes acquisition of Utah short line Short line operator and port logistics provider Patriot Rail has finalized its acquisition of the Salt Lake Garfield & Western Railway (SLGW) short line in Utah. As part of the deal, Jacksonville, Florida-based Patriot acquires SLGW and two storage and transload service providers, Caballero and Caballero 2. Patriot itself was acquired by infrastructure investment firm First Sentier Investors in October 2019.  SLGW runs 26 miles and handles more than 6,000 loaded railcars annually. Located near Salt Lake City, the short line has access to BNSF (NYSE: BRK) and the Salt Lake International Airport.
