Federal programs created for workers who weren’t typically eligible for unemployment insurance and didn’t pay into the unemployment fund contributed to the major delays in distributing benefits quickly at the start of the pandemic, Labor officials said during state Assembly budget hearings Wednesday.
Data released March 4 by the New Jersey Department of Labor found that just 10,384 people filed for unemployment, or 9,214 claims according to the federal labor department.
