DOLE turns over Php7M livelihood assistance, Php5M emergency employment to LDN s GIDA

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Mar. 17 Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III awarded P7,656,765.50 worth of livelihood assistance to 680 beneficiaries in  Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) in Lanao del Norte province during the 5 March 2021 joint meeting of the National and Regional Task Forces to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (N/RTF-ELCAC) with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines, this city. The check, under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP), was turned over to the Accredited Co-Partner Paglingkawas Women Federation thru the President of the League of Municipalities in Lanao del Norte Kapatagan Mayor Barry Y. Baguio.

The high court issued a circular on Tuesday instructing judges of first and second level courts to accomplish an online nationwide survey on criminal cases relating to the harassment, threats, attack, and killing of those in the legal profession. The circular, signed by Court Administrator Jose Midas P. Marquez, aims to make an inventory of such cases, including lawyers in private practice. This survey, with a Mar. 19 deadline, is in line with the memorandum of Chief Justice Diosdado M. Researcher AROUND four million Filipinos remain jobless in January, as more reentered the labor force with the further easing of quarantine restrictions around the country, government labor data released on Tuesday showed. Preliminary results of Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) January 2021 round of the Labor Force Survey (LFS) showed around 3.953 million unemployed Filipinos, up from 3.813 million in October 2020 and 2.391 million in January 2020. This put the unemployment rate at 8.7% in January, unchanged from October 2020 but higher than 5.3% in January 2020. The January 2021 reading was the highest among January LFS rounds since the government adopted new definitions for the survey in 2005. The quality of jobs also weakened as the underemployment rate the proportion of those already working, but still looking for more work or longer working hours worsened to 16% from 14.4% in October and 14.8% in January 2020. Private inspection centers seek revision of vehicle checking program VEHICLE inspection center owners are proposing a revised private motor vehicle inspection program to President Rodrigo R. Duterte, as daily inspections have drastically declined from 100 to five. “Even with the price drop, there has been a drastic decline in the number of clients undergoing inspection in our centers,” the Vehicle Inspection Centers Owners Association of the Philippines said in a petition letter to the President published on Wednesday. “From doing 100 inspections a day, our centers are currently conducting only five to 10 daily inspections,” the group added.
