It could become the case Labor Leader Anthony Albanese was simply “shuffling the decks on the Titanic” with his newly unveiled Shadow Cabinet, according to Sky News Chief Anchor Kieran Gilbert.
It comes after the opposition leader on Thursday unveiled his new front bench following the decision to reshuffle the Shadow Cabinet.
Mr Albanese said the reshuffle is about “Australians getting the most out of Labor” and is the “strongest team to form an Albanese Labor Government”.
“I think what we’re seeing here is a very risky move,” Mr Gilbert said.
“Reshuffles often annoy more people than they please, and this one – from what I’m picking up (in the) reaction today – is no different.”
Mr Gilbert said the “key question” now is whether the reshuffle will be enough to “firm up the Albanese leadership”.
“Or will we look back on this in an few months’ time, possible into next year, and see this as simply shuffling the decks on the Titanic?”
