County reports 12 new COVID-19 cases

AUBURN — The DeKalb County Health Department on Thursday reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 in DeKalb County residents. In total, 92 cases have been confirmed in the first 15 days of April — an average of 6.1 per day. However, in the past seven days, the county has reported 61 cases for an average of 8.7 per day. Thursday’s new patients include three between 11-20 years old; two between ages 21-30; two from 31-40 years old; two in the 41-50 age bracket; two between 51-60 years old; and one between ages 61-70. All three of the age 11-20 patients are of school age, said DeKalb County Health Officer Dr. Mark Souder.

In total, 26 cases have been confirmed in the first seven days of April — an average of 3.7 per day. Wednesday marks the 41st consecutive day with new cases in single digits. Wednesday’s new patients include two between ages 11-20, two from 31-40 years old and one in the 41-50 age group. They bring the total to 4,036 DeKalb County residents who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the first local case was reported March 24, 2020. A total of 78 county residents have died while positive for the coronavirus, according to the county Health Department. The most recent death was reported March 25.

In total, 27 cases have been confirmed in the past seven days — an average of fewer than four per day. Thursday marks the 35th consecutive day with new cases in single digits. Thursday’s new patients include one between ages 21-30 and one in the 81-90 age group. They bring the total to 4,012 DeKalb County residents who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the first local case was reported March 24, 2020. During the entire month of March, COVID-19 was diagnosed in only two DeKalb County residents in the 81-90 age bracket. No cases were reported in the 91-100 age group during March.
