Atlanta School Districts Finalize Vaccination Plans For Staff Members

Metro Atlanta school districts are finalizing plans to distribute COVID-19 vaccines to thousands of teachers and other staff members. Gov. Brian Kemp moved educators into vaccine group 1A+, meaning they could start getting inoculated this week. Clayton County Public Schools partnered with county health officials to administer vaccines at the North Jonesboro Center. Appointments are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays in March from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Clayton teachers can sign up through the employee portal on the district’s website.

The U.S. is projected to see widespread delays in COVID-19 vaccine shipments and deliveries over the next few days due to the ongoing winter storm sweeping across the country. The delivery of over a million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been impacted so far, including 407,000 first doses and 333,650 second doses in Texas, 200,000 total doses in Florida and 133,000 in Colorado.
