NBM plc Rolls Out Insurance Premium Financing Product

National Bank of Malawi (NBM) plc has rolled out an insurance premium financing facility where the bank will pay annual insurance premiums on behalf of its customers thereby freeing up their cash flow in the process.
Announcing the introduction of the facility in Blantyre, NBM plc Head of Retail Banking Division Oswin Kasunda said the Insurance Premium Finance (IPF) product allows the bank to pay insurance premiums to the insurance company on behalf of the customer and grants a loan to the customer which is repaid in monthly instalments.

Multi-award winning Nation Publications Limited (NPL) publishers of The Nation, Weekend Nation and Nation on Sunday newspapers is in financial crisis forcing the company to ear mark 50 employees for retrenchment.
According to the plan, the employees will comprise members from all the three bureaus thus Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre.
The company is also preparing to move it’s Lilongwe office in Area 4 to the house of its Chief Executive Officer Mbumba Banda in Area 47 because it cannot cope up with high rentals.
Sources say the company is struggling to settle K18 million rentals at the Lilongwe office with the current landlord.

In a statement released on January 1 meant to assess media freedom in the year 2020, media watchdog Chairperson Teresa Ndanga has in strongest terms condemned the attacks.

Misa-Malawi Chapter Chairperson Teresa Ndanga lamented the behaviour in their assessment of the administration’s six months in power.
Ndanga further describes as uncalled for prior approval of State House on certain journalists’ questions during the introduced weekly briefings.
She adds some supporters of the current regime have also launched cyber bullying on Nation Publications Limited journalists, Ephraim Munthali and Suzgo Chitete for their published stories.
