The Late Late Show host got to hold a replica of George Washington s sword that John F Kennedy presented to Eamon de Valera back in 1963.
Taking to Instagram he said: So today s school tour is the National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks. Look at this place, it s extraordinary. There s so much history civil war, war of independence, freedom of Ireland, art, design, it s all here.

Relatives of Omey islanders have renewed their appeal for a return of bones taken by the State in an emergency excavation three decades ago.

The Sunday Times reports, a professor of archaeology has been contacted about human remains removed from Omey off Claddaghduff in Connemara in 1992, which residents have campaigned for years to be returned.
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage said last week that it had approached Tadhg O’Keeffe, a University College Dublin professor, to discuss his excavation on the Co Galway tidal island and “the matter of the burials in the context of the local interest”.

Pilot live events of varying sizes will take place across the country in June and July including rock, classical and comedy gigs as well both indoor and outdoor theatre events.
Minister for Tourism, Culture and Arts Catherine Martin said she was working on the finer details of the pilot events such as whether the tickets will go on general release and if antigen testing will have a role.
“I’m compiling a list of a number of live events right across the country to cover a variety of music genres from rock to classical and also comedy and of course theatre, indoors and outdoors. The numbers will vary according to the type of the event or the venue,” Ms Martin said.
