Doctor Who Vincent and the Doctor gallery scene | How was it made?

Monday, 26th April 2021 at 12:08 pm It was a cold day in Kew Gardens when Steven Moffat got a call from Richard Curtis. Moffat, the new head writer on Doctor Who, had wanted Curtis to write an episode in order to help heal the “titanic loss” of Russell T Davies’ departure from the show. Curtis had had precisely one idea, he told Moffat. It would require time travel. And it was about depression and suicide. Advertisement RadioTimes.com, “’but it’s basically an early-evening Saturday adventure show mainly for kids.’” Curtis’ story idea was Vincent and the Doctor, one of the most enduring episodes in the show’s modern incarnation. The story is about the Doctor and Amy meeting van Gogh and helping him kill a monster that only he can see. For Curtis, however, it boiled down to one scene. Welsh Treasure Trove Reminds Us of the Memento Mori

Welsh Treasure Trove Reminds Us of the Memento Mori Remember . A recently uncovered trove of artifacts in Wales has been officially designated as a treasure, meaning that the collection of  coins, rings, and other personal items which belonged to Welsh nobles from the 9th to the 17th must be given over to the staff at the National Museum of Wales. Among the horde was a gold finger ring from Carreghofa Community, Powys. Pictured above, the ring features a skull and is also engraved with the Latin phrase “memento mori.” It means “remember that you die.” The ring is a perfect example of the larger memento mori type of art that we find throughout history. It’s art that reminds people of the inevitability of death, types of which we find all over history. Death is, after all, one experience that every human will eventually share, so of course depictions and reminders of it are near-universal.
