LIMA, April 6 (Xinhua) Peruvians will go to the polls on Sunday to elect a new president, two vice presidents, 130 legislators and five representatives to the Andean Parliament.
In the running are 18 presidential hopefuls, with five candidates currently leading the pre-election polls: Yonhy Lescano of the Popular Action party, Hernando de Soto (Avanza Pais), George Forsyth (National Victory), Veronika Mendoza (Together for Peru) and Keiko Fujimori (Popular Force).
According to the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), which organizes elections in Peru, voters can choose their preferred polling stations in a digital system in advance.

15:06 | Lima, Apr. 7. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday ensured that the 977,292 Peruvian nationals authorized to vote abroad will rely on 214 polling places available during the general elections this Sunday, April 11.
Through the embassies and consular offices, it will be guaranteed that the 214 voting places necessary for the 3,371 voting tables consigned to 204 foreign cities in 78 countries (from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) unless by provisions of the local authority another schedule has to be crafted.
Consular offices coordinate with national, federal, local, and municipal authorities, as well as health officials, to ensure completion of Election Day and compliance with the biosafety protocols required within the framework of the COVID-19 pandemic, which will make it possible to guarantee the essential conditions for compatriots abroad to exercise their right to vote safely.
