Eight new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from 208 samples processed on Saturday May 29, 2021, resulting in a positivity rate of 3.9 per cent, a release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said.
No samples were processed on Sunday May 30, 2021.
“One new recovery was noted over the reporting period. One hundred and ninety-nine(199) cases are currently active and twelve (12) persons with COVID-19 have died. Two thousand and forty four (2044) cases of COVID-19 and eighteen hundred and thirty-two (1832) recoveries have been recorded in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since March 2020,” the release said.
The public is urged to continue to use masks, sanitize, physically distance and get vaccinated to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Social Share VICE-CHANCELLOR, of The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Professor Sir Hilary Beckles heard firsthand from scientists at the University’s Seismic Research Centre (UWI–SRC) about their months of treacherous work and experience, when he visited Saint Vincent and the Grenadines last Friday.
Vice-Chancellor Beckles was briefed by the scientific team, led by Volcanologist, Dr Adam Stinton on its monitoring and advising on the Soufrière volcano, which has been critical to the Government in preparing for, managing and now recovering from the volcano’s eruption.
When La Soufriere Volcano in St. Vincent erupted, on April 9, the explosion took livestock, poultry and crops essentially pulling the rug from beneath the agriculturally rich island and its 8000 farmers. But amidst the ashes, there lies hope in the prospect of a food system reset.
Eight new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from 167 samples processed on Friday May 28, 2021, resulting in a positivity rate of 4.8 per cent, a release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said. Four of the eight new cases are linked to an emergency shelter, the release said.
