NEMO statement on allegations of hoarding of bed mattresses Mattresses in the NEMO warehouse at Campden Park on Monday. Social Share The National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) is aware of statements circulating  on social media in which accusations of the hoarding of bed mattresses have been leveled at the  organization.  This follows the visit by the Governor General Her Excellency Dame Susan Dougan to the NEMO  Warehouse at Campden Park on Monday, 3rd May, 2021. During her visit, photographs of  mattresses being stored at the warehouse were taken and disseminated by local media who had  accompanied Her Excellency on her tour of the facility. This display has resulted in widespread  social media allegations that NEMO is engaging in the hoarding of bed mattresses and supplies  meant for evacuees throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Church of Latter-day Saints provides relief help for SVG Social Share THE Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has contributed a quantity of food, water and other supplies to the local relief efforts. The Church’ meetinghouse in Kingstown is an official shelter which currently houses 46 evacuees. Food, water, and other supplies have been donated to various local organizations to help alleviate the situation for the evacuees. Latter-day Charities, the humanitarian arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, has donated to several organizations in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in response to La Soufriere volcanic eruption.

On Tuesday April 20, at around 4 p.m. Rodriguez’s alleged exploits on to the country’s highest peak earned him an interview with police officers stationed at the Biabou Police Station as the summit is listed as off limits by local authorities. Rodriguez was detained for 48 hours, released, then asked to return to the Biabou Police Station on Monday April 26 as police were said to still be conducting investigations.

Grant Thornton donates to Soufriere volcanic eruption relief organizations LEFT TO Right: Eula Johnny, Floyd Patterson, Michelle Forbes and Julia Simmons Social Share GRANT THORNTON, an international firm of chartered accountants, has split EC$145,000 among three local organizations that are spearheading the Soufriere volcanic eruption relief effort. On Friday, Floyd Patterson, the resident partner of Grant Thornton Windward Islands St. Vincent, handed over to the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) EC$100,000; to the Red Cross EC$30,000; and EC$15,000 to the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School (SMRC) emergency shelter. The SMRC school shelter’s donation is for the purpose of assisting the St. Benedict’s Day Nursery and Children Home occupants, who have relocated from Georgetown as a result of the eruption.
