Religion News Service reports that the Kenyan Community Seventh-day Adventist Church’s involvement with demonstrations in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, went viral recently when a photo of police officers surrounding the church was shared widely on social media. The National Emergency Management Organization NEMO has been assured that Guyana is committed to continue to work closely with the organization to assist Vincentians during this challenging time.
The assurance came from Honorary Consul of Guyana to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Nigel Russell on Sunday, following the arrival at the Kingstown Port, of the second vessel of relief supplies from Guyana.
Mr. Russell said Guyana is ready to support the work that NEMO is doing on the ground. He noted that persons from every sector of the society in Guyana, are contributing to the relief effort.
SVG records its 11th death from COVID19 Social Share
An 87-year-old male is the 11th person to die from Covid-19 in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
A release from the National Emergency Management Organization said the elderly man died on April 26 while in isolation at the Argyle Isolation Facility.
Meanwhile, five new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from 32 samples processed on April 25, resulting in a positivity rate of 15.6%.
Over the weekend, 10 new positive cases were reported.
Six of these were reported on April 22 from 120 samples, resulting in a positivity rate of 5 percent; on April 23, four positive cases were reported from 155 samples, resulting in a positivity rate of 2.6%. No positive cases were reported from 42 samples processed on April 24.
Don’t blame NEMO for everything! – Director

THE National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) is not just the workers at the secretariat but an entity made up of various organizations.
These organizations include government agencies, private and public sector entities as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). Director of NEMO Michelle Forbes, explained the structure on Wednesday April 21 while waiting on a Venezuelan vessel to arrive with supplies for the Soufriere relief effort.
She said that NEMO is an overarching organization but currently, is the entity taking all the blame when things go wrong.
