The State of Maine has announced that February 22-26th is National Invasive Species Awareness Week with a staunch focus on stopping the growth of invasive species in Maine.
The theme for the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry is Together, we can do more . The entire week is an opportunity for the public to learn about invasive species in and ways to prevent them from doing damage to Maine fragile enviorment.
The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry hopes that the public will use rescourses available to understand and identify invasive species in the state.
The Mississippi Forestry Commission (MFC) joins the North American Invasive Species Management Association (NAISMA) and other agencies and organizations in recognizing the week of Feb. 22 as National Invasive Species Awareness Week.
National Invasive Species Awareness Week is an annual international event to raise awareness about invasive species, the threat that they pose, and what can be done to prevent their spread.
âMississippi has numerous invasive species that threaten the health of forests across the state,â said MFC State Forester Russell Bozeman. âEducation is the best way for Mississippians to help prevent the spread of these harmful plants and forest pests.â

LINCOLN, Neb. – Learn about invasive species during a five-part virtual webinar series during National Invasive Species Awareness Week Feb. 22-26.
The series, hosted by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the Nebraska Invasive Species Program through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will focus on a different topic each day. The webinar schedule is: Feb. 22 – Invasive Species 101, Feb. 23 – Invasive Plants, Feb. 24 – Invasive Wildlife, Feb. 25 – Invasive Aquatic Species, Feb. 26 – Invasive Insects.
Registration is required and can be completed at calendar.outdoornebraska.gov/. Each webinar, which begins at 10 a.m. Central time, requires a separate registration.
