Cairo: Bahraini citizens and expatriates have shown great interest in receiving the vaccine against COVID-19 with the initiation of the vaccination campaign in the kingdom, the Health Ministry has said without giving specific figures.
The ministry called on people to register for the vaccine through its website https://healthalert.gov.bh to set appointments for citizens and foreign residents to take the vaccine.

Cairo: Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa has taken a vaccine against COVID-19, the country’s official news agency BNA reported.
The monarch thanked the kingdom’s people for abiding by precautions against the novel coronavirus, saying that such abidance has helped limit the spread of the highly infectious disease.
Bahrain, a country of around 1.7 million population, so far has registered 89,600 virus cases and 349 related fatalities.
BNA also quoted the king as expressing appreciation for frontline personnel in different state institutions and volunteers for “setting the brightest examples of devotion” with the aim of bringing life back to normal.
On Wednesday, the Bahraini king announced that his country will start “soon” a campaign for vaccination against COVID-19.

DECEMBER 17 Member of Parliament Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah in his statement last week challenged government ministers, promoters and supporters involved in the ongoing effort to acquire at least one Covid-19 vaccine for Malaysia, be vaccinated first before any members of the Malaysian public.
My parents and I step forward to pick up the gauntlet and volunteer ourselves to be among the first to receive the mRNA vaccines which are being acquired by the Malaysian government, especially if the MP is offering to help with the process. We trust in the science.

Actions to slow the spread of Covid-19:
15 December: Health ministry starts registrations to receive Covid-19 vaccine. Vaccination will be free and is divided into three stages, the first of which will cover citizens and residents who are over 65 years old; professionals who are most vulnerable to infection; people who are obese and have a body mass of more than 40; those who have a lack of immunity or take immunosuppressive drugs; and those who have two or more chronic diseases, such as asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The second stage includes citizens and residents who are over 50 years old, the rest of health practitioners, and those who have one chronic disease. The last stage is for all citizens and residents who wish to take the vaccine.
