Election petition: Give Supreme Court benefit of the doubt – Sly Mensah A former Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) Sylvester Mensah has asked the general public who have little or no confidence in the Supreme Court following the election petition against the 2020 election results which is expected to be filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to give the apex court the benefit of the doubt to handle the case well. Dr Mrs Alberta Biritwum-Nyarko, the Director of Policy, Planning and Evaluation Division, Ghana Health Service (GHS), explained that the UHC’s key objectives include increased access to better-managed quality primary healthcare services. It also seeks for universal access to interventions, reduces avoidable maternal, new-born, child adolescent deaths and disabilities as well as universal access to clinical and public health emergencies. Dr Biritwum-Nyarko said this in a speech read on her behalf at a Colloquium to commemorate the World Universal Health Coverage Day by Alliance for Reproductive Health (ARHR) in Accra.

Bodi District NHIA has 20,506 active members

Bodi District NHIA has 20,506 active members The figure includes both new registrants and renewal of cards. The Acting Bodi District manager, Mr Alex Gyawu Asante who made this known to the Ghana News Agency in Bodi said the authority embarked on an outreach Programme to meet its target. According to Mr Asante, who is also the Public Relations officer of the Authority, rolling members onto the NHIA platform in the Bodi District has been challenging, because the Communities under the Authority s jurisdiction are scattered and movement from the various Communities to the District office has been difficult. He pointed out that members had to pass through Juabeso and Wiawso Districts before getting to Bodi that he noted had become a challenge for the members.

NHIA intensifies online registration 17th Dec 2020    |    Source: GNA The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) on Wednesday said as part of Ghana’s bid to provide Universal Health Coverage (UHC), online registration of new National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) members has started to leave no one behind. The measure, the NHIA said formed part of the efforts put in place to increase membership drive as well as implement policies and reforms that would provide affordable and accessible health care services for all. Currently, the NHIA membership stands at 13 million; Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby, Chief Executive Officer, NHIA said this in a speech read on her behalf at a Colloquium held in Accra in commemoration of World UHC Coverage Day.
