Romanian gas distribution and transmission companies will invest a total of 1.6 billion RON under 2021 projects, according to a press release of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).
In order to fulfill their obligations in accordance with the legal provisions, the transmission and system operator and the natural gas distribution operators submitted, and ANRE approved, the annual investment plans for 2021 in total amount of 1.3 billion RON, which include works aimed at improving the indicators of service performance, safety in operation, the energy efficiency of systems, as well as reducing operating and maintenance costs.
Considering the new legal obligations, for the year 2021, the operators have provided, in addition to the annual investment plan initially drawn up, amounts intended for the extension and connection works in total value, to date, of over 365 million RON, which represents an extra 26 percent of the annual investment effort.

The operators have another ten months of this year to complete the investment projects that they could not make last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ANRE officials told AGERPRES. From the constant monitoring that ANRE performs of the investment projects of the natural gas transmission and distribution operators, ANRE found that in 2020 they were carried out by the transmission and system operator and natural gas distribution operators, of a total value of 1.7 billion lei. It found that the planned investment in the natural gas distribution systems were 98% completed, according to ANRE.

More than half of Romania s household electricity consumers, specifically over 4.5 million, fall in the category of vulnerable consumers, with an average monthly consumption of 55 kWh, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE ) said in a Wednesday statement. Of the more than 8,700,000 household customers, according to the reports for H1 2020 sent by suppliers to ANRE for the collection of the necessary data for reporting to the National Institute of Statistics and Eurostat, in accordance with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 1952/2016 of the European Union and of the Council, over 50 percent of the total are customers with an average consumption of 55 kWh/month, that can be included in the category of vulnerable consumers, ANRE shows.
