Australia: NERA launches regional hydrogen technology clusters across Australia

A network of 13 regional hydrogen technology clusters has been unveiled across Australia as part of a drive to establish a nationwide hydrogen cluster. With $1.85M to be invested in the clusters, the network will foster a multi-billion dollar, globally competitive hydrogen industry.

NERA (National Energy Resources Australia), the national cluster (which would operate as a virtual network) will establish a global identity and a recognised brand for Australian hydrogen technology and expertise. It will also aid the development of the hydrogen supply chain, reduce overlaps and identify gaps in the development, deployment, and commercialisation of new hydrogen-focussed technologies.

Thirteen technology âclustersâ will be set up around Australia to help smaller companies gain a foothold in the rapidly emerging hydrogen sector and build up national expertise in an area awash with international initiatives to support development of the clean fuel.
Spearheaded by National Energy Resources Australia, the network â which takes in all the states and territories â will aim to overcome the fragmentation of the sector that cuts across multiple technologies and applications, and give a leg-up to smaller companies that might otherwise find themselves cut out of the boom, NERA chief executive Miranda Taylor said.
