Reps seek restriction on import, export of agric commodities

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 29 April 2021 The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Government to restrict the inflow and outflow of agricultural commodities in the country. The House said the checks on import and export of the commodities is to protect the country’s economy. This resolution was passed at the plenary on Thursday following the unanimous adoption of a motion titled ‘Need to Control the Import and Export of Agricultural Commodities in Nigeria,’ as moved by Mr Ibrahim Olarewaju. Based on the adoption, the House mandated its Committees on Ports and Harbour; Aviation; and Agricultural Production and Services to “investigate the matter, to recommend to the government the need to have the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service back to the nation’s entry and exit points.”

Vanguard News Skills acquisition, solution to unemployment in Nigeria NDE On Kindly Share This Story: The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Kaduna State directorate on Wednesday said that acquisition of relevant skills would help reduce the level of youths unemployment in Nigeria. NDE state Coordinator, Alhaji Sani Maiwada, made the assertion at the inauguration and orientation programme of Advanced National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (ANOAS) of 46 trainees from the 23 Local Government Area of the state. He said that the programme was an advanced training of the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (BNOAS) where participants would be trained on more than 10 skills such as carpentry, tailoring among others.

Unemployment: Graduates, dropouts to learn animal, crop production from NDE

Daily Post Nigeria Published The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has embarked on a three-month training of 100 unemployed youths in animal and crop production in each state of the country. This was disclosed to newsmen on Wednesday in Bauchi by the Assistant Director, Rural Employment Promotion Department at the Bauchi office of NDE, Mr Inuwa Adamu. He informed that the three-month agricultural training programme was initiated under the Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS) of the national headquarters of NDE. According to him, the training was being conducted in line with the Federal Government’s policy of using agriculture to provide employment opportunities, ensure food sufficiency and create wealth.
