Einstein, Zoo Knoxville s parrot, encourages blood donations for National Blood Donor Month

Einstein the Parrot and his handler, Adam Patterson, teamed up to encourage people to donate blood on Monday.
They posted a video where Adam chatted with Einstein about donating blood, encouraging others to donate too. January is National Blood Donor Month, and the MEDIC Regional Blood Center is hosting an event on Thursday at Zoo Knoxville, where people can donate.
Each donor will receive a free ticket for the zoo, officials said.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Officials at the American Red Cross in Evansville say their âNew Year, New Lifeâ blood drive on Friday exceeded their goal of 65 pints.
They say they collected a total of 83 units from donors.
This was the first big blood drive of the year from the Red Cross, and was a way to celebrate National Blood Donor Month.
Executive Director Theo Boots says success at this blood drive was crucial, because during the winter months, donor turnout is usually lower.
