The Department of Justice (DOJ) released a rule proposal Friday in which they claimed that “weapons parts kits” which contain all the pieces necessary to build a firearm are going to be labeled “firearms.”
On page 23 of the DOJ’s ‘Definition of ‘Frame or Receiver and Identification of Firearms‘ it describes parts kits that contain all the pieces necessary to build a firearm, even though some of the pieces are not completed, then says: “Weapon parts kits such as these are ‘firearms’ under the [Gun Control Act of 1968] because they are designed to or may readily be converted to expel a projectile by the action of an explosive.”
The first of three new gun safety bills, in part a response to the March shooting at the south Boulder King Soopers, was approved on a party-line 7-4 vote by the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday evening.
But what a difference there was between the angry crowds that filled the Capitol over gun laws in 2013 compared to the hearing Wednesday.
House Bill 1298 would change state law on background checks for firearms transfers as well as close what’s known as the Charleston loophole that refers to the 2015 shooting at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, which resulted in the murders of nine African American parishioners. The shooter obtained a firearm without a background check, because under South Carolina law the same as Colorado s if a background check doesn’t come back within three days, the dealer has to transfer the firearm to the buyer without it.

Punchbowl News released a new tracking poll Thursday showing a majority of senior Democrat Capitol Hill aides believe House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) partisan socialist agenda will not pass Congress.
Pelosi’s push to pass a partisan socialist agenda while Washington, DC, is under one-party rule looks like it will fail as the “gatekeepers and, in many cases, the decision-makers” believe there will not be enough votes to get her wishlist through, according to the poll.
Only 36 percent of the Democrat staffers surveyed believe there is hope to pass H.R. 3, which is the Democrats’ “big bill to lower drug costs.”
