IHC opens new facility to process seafood
ABU DHABI, February 23, 2021 International Holding Company has officially opened a new AED200+ million ($54.45 million) facility to process, store and distribute a quarter of the seafood consumed in the UAE. Operated by IHC’s subsidiary ASMAK, the new seafood facility is the largest in the Middle East and is designed to support the UAE’s food security aims, providing products to millions of consumers in the UAE and the region. Coinciding with the Gulfood F&B trade exhibition, the factory’s official opening on 22 February 2021 was presided over by Mariam Almheiri, Minister of State for Food and Water Security. Dubai: After a year of restrictions on the global F&B industry, Gulfood kicked off in Dubai on Sunday with a socially distanced function to reinvigorate the local F&B sector.
The return of UAE’s leading food and beverage trade event has allowed global industry professionals to reconnect following the lack of face-to-face business opportunities in 2020. Running until February 25, across 20 exhibition halls at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), the global sourcing platform has welcomed participants from 85 countries, coming together to network and collaborate after a tumultuous year.
