This year 100 Women is highlighting those who are leading change and making a difference during these turbulent times. The list includes Sanna Marin, who leads Finland s all-female coalition government, Michelle Yeoh, star of the new Avatar and Marvel films and Sarah Gilbert, who heads the Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine, as well as Jane Fonda, a climate activist and actress. And in an extraordinary year - when countless women around the world have made sacrifices to help others - one name on the 100 Women list has been left blank as a tribute.

We need a national day of mourning for the coronavirus.  As the first vaccinations began in the U.S. on Monday, bringing with them a ray of hope, the nation hit a grim milestone: more than 300,000 people dead from the virus so far.  “We’ve been struggling,” said Douglas Yankton, chairman of the Spirit Lake Tribe in North Dakota. Native Americans have been disproportionately infected, hospitalized and killed by the virus. Yankton lost four family members an uncle and three cousins in the span of a week.

Some housekeeping staff are at the top of the list for the COVID-19 vaccine MASSACHUSETTS (CNN) – The first COVID-19 vaccine is here, but it’s not just doctors and nurses who are getting it first. At the VA Bedford Healthcare System in Massachusetts, Andrew Miller a housekeeper in the Environmental Management Service was the first employee to get the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Monday afternoon, the hospital said. Miller isn’t the only one, either. As hospitals around the country receive the first shipments of the vaccine, some housekeepers are finding themselves at the top of the list. In Lexington, Kentucky at Baptist Health, a member of the housekeeping staff along with an intensivist, an ICU nurse and an emergency room nursing assistant were among the first to get the vaccine’s first dose Monday.
