The 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back day will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, community partners and the Drug Enforcement Administration will provide the public with an opportunity to prevent medication abuse and theft by clearing out their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. The event is to raise awareness and help community members dispose of unused or expired prescriptions at locations all across the county, free, anonymously and with no questions asked.
“Very often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands that can result in tragedy. National Take Back Day provides hundreds of people the opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and dispose of prescriptions in a safe and anonymous manner” said Kelley Potter, HOPE Chautauqua DFC project director/coalition coordinator.
Have expired pills roaming around your bathroom cabinet? An aid kit with medication you do not need anymore? Be sure to dispose of it properly this weekend during National Take Back Day.
On Saturday, you can drop off your unused or expired prescription drugs at four different locations in San Joaquin County:
Code 3 Wear at Lincoln Center, 304 Lincoln Center, Stockton
Stockton Police Department Operations Building, 22 E. Market St., Stockton
Lathrop Senior Center, 15707 5th St., Lathrop
Financial Services Parking Lot, 310 W. Elm St., Lodi
The locations listed – as others nationally – will be taking in medicine the community wants to dispose of from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

‘National Take Back Day’ is April 23
In recognition of “National Take Back Day,” the Perry Police Department and the City of Perry Fire Department will serve as a collection sites for unused medications on April 24.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, residents will be able to safely dispose of unused prescription medications rather than flushing them down the drain, which can affect local water quality, or storing them where others can access the drugs.
