Specialized center for risk management eyed
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 31: The report of the “Government Performance Follow-up Team during the Corona Crisis” recommended the application of all rules in the public sector to ensure the transparency and credibility of government procedures, and called for the establishment of an independent and specialized center for risk management. The report issued by the Public Authority for Combating Corruption ‘Nazaha’, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Transparency Society, indicated the need to strengthen the principle of partnership and activate the role of civil society, and to seriously review the pending problems, especially the demographics, and to give confidence to the national component that has proved its efficiency during the crisis.

ON Wednesday December 9, 2020, Zimbabwe joined the entire world in commemorating the International Anti-Corruption Day. Having noted that corruption is among the greatest threats that the world is facing, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) on October 31, 2003. Following a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly, December 9 was set aside as the International Anti-Corruption Day. This memorable day is dedicated to raising awareness on corruption and the role of the Convention in combating and preventing the scourge.
It is estimated that the world is losing a staggering US$$3,6 trillion to corruption. This is a sum of money that could have been channelled towards economic development and the betterment of livelihoods.

As the world marks International Anti-Corruption Day, Nigerians have lamented widespread corruption and its devastating effects on the country.
This year, the theme is ‘United Against Corruption.’ It focuses on corruption as one of the biggest obstacles to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also aims to raise awareness of corruption and its prevention.
The United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 58/4, which is the United Nations Convention against Corruption on October 31, 2003. The Assembly also designated December 9 as World Anti-Corruption Day to raise awareness about corruption and role of the Convention in battling and preventing it. The Convention came into force in December 2005.
Lazarus Chakwera Calls For Concerted Effort To Fight Corruption

Blantyre, Mana: Malawi President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has advised Malawians to champion the fight against corruption at all levels in order to build a better Malawi.
Chakwera made the remarks on Wednesday when he presided over commemoration of International Anti Corruption day in Blantyre organized by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The Malawi leader said corruption is evil as it erodes development of any country hence the need for every individual to play a critical role to mercilessly terminate it.
“As far as I am concerned, corruption is evil and needs to be eliminated because its occurrence over the past years has led to economic impoverishment and moral decay in our people.
