New Mexico Wildfire Forces Residents from Homes as It Explodes in Size in Lincoln National Forest

A wildfire that exploded in size Monday in the Lincoln National Forest in southern New Mexico has forced about 250 people to flee their homes.
Named the Three Rivers Fire, the blaze began Monday morning about a half-mile above the Three Rivers Campground in the White Mountains. It grew to 9.5 square miles by late Monday, according to KRQE, and was 0% contained.
It had spread almost to the Ski Apache resort and into the South Fork Canyon area.
The wildfire was being driven by steep terrain and extreme fire weather conditions, including gusty winds and low humidity levels, according to Laura Rabon, a public affairs officer with the Lincoln National Forest.

Some residents forced to flee their homes due to a wildfire that exploded in size in Southern New Mexico were allowed to return home Tuesday.
The fire broke out Monday in a part of Lincoln National Forest about 180 miles south of Albuquerque. About 250 people were told to evacuate.
