The world s gaze will be drawn to Washington DC and the Capitol once again today for President Joe Biden s official inauguration.
And when the first historic picture is taken of Mr Biden sat at his desk in the Oval Office, there s one reason why residents of Kent may have an eye on the furniture rather than the 46th President of the United States of America.

Titanic to warn the captain that despite changing course, huge icebergs were still in the ship s path. Neither message made it from the wireless operator to the bridge. Around 11 p.m., the
Californian sent word that they were stopped for the night because of the ice. Like the others, this message never left the wireless room.

A sledge and flag used on explorer Ernest Shackleton’s famed attempt to reach the South Pole in the early 1900s will be put on show in London and Cambridge.
The artefacts had earlier been sold at auction to an overseas buyer, leading to the British Government to impose an export ban on the artefacts due to their national importance.
The National Heritage Memorial Fund, which is funded by the Government, said on Wednesday that the items had been acquired for the nation after it awarded a £204,700 grant.
The fund was set up “to save some of the UK’s finest heritage at risk of loss”, and the items will go to two UK museums.
