A new bill to be introduced will involve Firearms Prohibition Orders (FPOs) to combat the influence of gangs and organised crime to help keep New Zealanders and their families safe , Police Minister Poto Williams said today.

Police said the man was arrested without incident today at a Lower Hutt property. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding work of our staff from both the Criminal Investigation Branch in Counties Manukau, where the original complaint was received, and the team in Lower Hutt who located the alleged offender today, Wellington Field Crime Manager Detective Inspector Darrell Harpur said in a statement. They worked closely together under urgency to get this result.
The man is due to appear in the Hutt Valley District Court on 13 May and faces a charge of threatening to kill.
