As the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit an even deadlier peak in the coming few weeks, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has revised the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for international travel.
As per the new guidelines, 20 more countries have been added to Category A, which includes Australia, Bhutan, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. Passengers from these countries are not required to get tested for COVID-19.
As far as countries in Category B are concerned, the duration of pre-determined PCR tests will be 72 hours.
India has been added to Category C, with travel restrictions extended till 24th April.

The highest deaths in the COVID-19 pandemic was recorded on June 20 when 153 people died due to coronavirus. Pakistan has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths in a day during the ongoing third wave of coronavirus with 135 people succumbing to the disease, according to the official data released on Wednesday. The previous highest during the third wave that hit the country towards the end of February was recorded on Tuesday with 118 deaths. However, the highest deaths in the COVID-19 pandemic was recorded on June 20 when 153 people died due to coronavirus.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has witnessed a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases by 50% ever since the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) eased restrictions late last month, reported Dawn.
As many as 1,714 people contracted the virus and 38 lost their lives in a single day while the number of active cases increased to 17,352 on March 6.
According to the NCOC data, 1,176 cases were recorded on Feb 27 and 1,163 on March 1, but the number suddenly increased to 1,388 on March 2 and 1,519 on March 4.
