Get ready to gobble and drink.
Main Street Kirksville has announced the creation of its first Downtown Kirksville Whiskey & Turkey Festival, which will happen on May 1. This is a new event that Main Street Kirksville hopes will grow and become an annual event in the city.
Kirk Ranson, president of Main Street Kirksville, said the festival is a way for people to have fun and learn about the history of the town.
“The story goes that the city of Kirksville was chosen to be Kirksville because Jesse Kirk apparently talked to the right people and lured them with turkey and whiskey in order to make that happen,” Ranson said.
