The Banks Board Bureau (BBB), an apex body tasked to recommend candidates for the top management posts in public sector banks and state owned insurers, has recommended two names for the forthcoming two positions of Managing Director in insurance behemoth Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).
While Ipe Mini has been recommended for the first vacancy of Managing Director of LIC, the BBB has recommended B C Patnaik for the second vacancy of Managing Director in LIC.
Meanwhile, the Finance Ministry is yet to approach the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on the issue of recommending an extension in the tenure of the incumbent LIC Chairman M R Kumar. New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Administrative Officer and Senior Divisional Manager of National Insurance Company, Srinagar in a bribery case of Rs 2 lakh.
According to the CBI, a case was registered against the accused on a complaint that a dealing official who was later identified as Nahida, an Administrative Officer with National Insurance Company Ltd., Srinagar demanded a bribe of Rs 4.5 lakh from the complainant to settle a personal accident claim of her father who died in a road accident.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court Monday held that all insurance companies are liable to give effect to the Mental Healthcare Act 2017 in their policies from the time it came into force in 2018 and any delay in doing so would be contrary to the letter and spirit of the law .
Justice Prathiba M Singh said insurance regulator IRDAI is duty bound to supervise the insurance companies and ensure that they comply with the Act and it cannot turn a blind eye to non-implementation of the same.
IRDAI has to ensure that all the insurance products issued by insurance companies are in accordance with the law, the high court said.
