The Department of Agriculture (DA) has reported compliance from key wet markets in Metro Manila as far as the prevailing price ceiling on pork is concerned.

During the DA’s virtual press briefing Thursday, March 4, Asec. Noel Reyes said that pork vendors in Dagonoy Market, Sta. Ana Market, and Mega Qmart have been selling cuts of liempo and kasim/ pigue at P300 per kilo and P270 per kilo, respectively.
“Ang presyo ay nasusundan naman po (The price complies with the price ceiling),” Reyes said, referring to Executive Order (EO) 124 issued by Malacañang. The directive set pork prices in the metropolis to P270 to P300 per kilo amid an apparent shortage of hogs.

President Muhammad Buhari has tasked the new Service Chiefs to adopt new strategies in tackling insecurity bedevilling the country.
The President gave the charge in his remarks at the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) meeting in Kaduna.
“Adopt new strategies and come up with plans that will end this ugly situation where the lives of our people are continue to be threatening by criminals.
“the government will continue to deal with insurgents, bandits, kidnappers and other criminals who continue to threaten the innocent citizens across the country”.
Represented by His Chief of staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the President condemned all act of criminality, saying that criminals are criminals and should be dealt with accordingly without result to ethnic value.

QUEZON CITY, Jan. 24 As part of the current nationwide biosecurity and surveillance program, aptly called “BABay ASF” (Bantay ASF sa Barangay), the Department of Agriculture (DA) is initially allotting P80 million (M) for the development and mass production of Filipino-made test kits that can detect the dreaded African Swine Fever (ASF) faster and cheaper.
“We are allocating an initial P80 million through the DA-National Livestock Program (NLP) and Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) to mass-produce and distribute to local government units (LGUs) the test kit, called “ASFV Nanogold Biosensor,” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar.
“We commend the team from the Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in partnership with the DA’s Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) who developed the ASF rapid test kit,” the DA chief added.
