The Washington Football Team has been one of the longest running jokes in professional football. Often, the team has made some serious personnel blunders, and in other times, the team has stacked sufficient talent to be competitive on paper yet always ends in the same competition for Top 10 draft selections (unless they, of course, sold that pick off).
There is something different in Washington today, and it can be attributed to the adage “addition by subtraction.”
Alabama Amazon workers accelerate struggle for a union
At an Amazon warehouse in Bessemer, Ala., 5,800 workers have won the right to vote for union representation. The National Labor Relations Board has authorized a mail-in election starting Feb. 8, with ballots due by March 29.

If a majority of workers vote yes, their victory will be a historic moment in the struggle of U.S. low-paid, part-time and gig workers against sharpening capitalist exploitation. The campaign by Bessemer workers in their “right-to-work-for-less” state is comparable in its potential to the epic union organizing of General Motors then the world’s largest corporation in the 1930s.

Amazon union efforts in Alabama gain support from NFL players

Unionization efforts at an Amazon warehouse in Alabama have gained the support of NFL players.
The National Football League Players Association, the union that represents more than 2,000 NFL players in the U.S., has released a video offering their support for a union vote set for Feb. 8, Vice.com reported.
“Everyone deserves to have a voice and we’re proud that you’re even considering taking the step to unionize,” JC Tretter, a center for the Cleveland Browns and president of the NFLPA, said. “Remember this union stands behind you and is inspired by your actions.”
