SWEETWATER COUNTY According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, residents in Sweetwater County need to make $15.81 an hour to afford a modest two-bedroom rental.
The 2021 report “highlights the mismatch between the wages people earn and the price of decent rental housing in every state, metropolitan area, and county in the U.S. The report calculates the “Housing Wage” a full-time worker must earn to afford a rental home without spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing costs.”
Nearly a quarter of households in Sweetwater County are renters, which is just under 3,700 households.
