An estimated 7.4-million people could have found themselves without a home after a pandemic turned the entire world upside down. To prevent this horrible domino effect, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) implemented an eviction moratorium that helped keep over-burdened renters in their homes. Despite some last-minute scrambling on Capitol Hill and protests by lawmakers, this moratorium recently expired. As a result, the nearly 7.4 million people who faced insecurity and instability for the past year could be evicted in a month’s time as the pandemic rages on worldwide.
