ADRIAN Two local survivors of domestic violence are looking to add resources to the community for fellow survivors.
Melissa Beal joined Surviving to Thriving after being a victim of domestic violence. The Adrian Township woman left her abusive relationship and wanted to do something to help herself and other survivors.
She said the group helped her heal. It also helped her unlock her passion: being an advocate for other survivors. Beal has used her passion to organize a domestic violence awareness rally at the state Capitol for the past two years.
Beal linked up with fellow survivor Vanessa Wallace of Tecumseh through the group, and together they have revamped Surviving to Thriving with a focus on domestic violence survivors.
