UTSA criminology professor studies impact of COVID-19on gender-based violence

That s inspired The University of Texas at San Antonio criminology and criminal justice professor Kellie Lynch, along with professor TK Logan from the University of Kentucky, to work with the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence on a national survey to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the dynamics of gender-based violence and the experiences of those serving victims of gender-based violence. Surviving to Thriving looks to grow its impact

The Monroe News ADRIAN Two local survivors of domestic violence are looking to add resources to the community for fellow survivors. Melissa Beal joined Surviving to Thriving after being a victim of domestic violence. The Adrian Township woman left her abusive relationship and wanted to do something to help herself and other survivors.  She said the group helped her heal. It also helped her unlock her passion: being an advocate for other survivors. Beal has used her passion to organize a domestic violence awareness rally at the state Capitol for the past two years. Beal linked up with fellow survivor Vanessa Wallace of Tecumseh through the group, and together they have revamped Surviving to Thriving with a focus on domestic violence survivors.
