Daily Caller reports: Large corporations have endorsed and lobbied for a $15 federal minimum wage in recent years, but while they can afford such a policy, small businesses would be harmed, multiple studies have shown. “More than doubling the federal minimum wage is one of the policies that would threaten the fragile small business economic recovery,” said National Federation of Independent Business Vice President of Federal Government Relations Kevin Kuhlman. The $15 minimum wage would result in 1.3 million workers losing their jobs, a 2019 Congressional Budget Office report estimated. Two Braintree restaurants warned about COVID-19 restrictions

BRAINTREE  Two businesses have been warned about COVID-19 violations after complains of overcrowding drew Braintree police to the establishments.  Braintree Brewhouse in Granite Plaza and Tokyo Japanese Steak House in the South Shore Plaza were both put on notice about violations and will be monitored for further incidents.  The restaurants will not come before the town s licensing board nor face disciplinary actions unless they become repeat offenders, according to Braintree Town Clerk James Casey. He said they have been the first two establishments in town that have had to be put on notice.  Braintree police responded to both eateries this month after receiving complaints about overcrowding. Currently, under state COVID-19 restrictions, restaurants are limited to 25 percent capacity.

The Senate voted 33-0 to pass the bill, S-3234. The state Assembly will consider the measure next. Congress created loans as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help small businesses keep employees on their payroll during the pandemic. The federal government may forgive some or all of the loans for recipients that meet certain conditions.
