Vermont has for weeks been inching toward a restart of youth winter sports. Last Friday, Gov. Phil Scott finally pulled the trigger, announcing that interscholastic competitions could resume on Friday.
Cuba City’s Petitgoue has legacy reach national recognition

(WKOW)- Jerry Petitgoue is the winningest high school basketball coach in Wisconsin history, and he s added a new accolade to his coaching resume being named as a national coach of the year.
Petitgoue has been coaching basketball at Cuba City for 50 years, and set the standard of success from the start. When I got to Cuba City I remember the Superintendent Jim Eveland told me, Coach if you beat Platteville once every four years your job is safe, said Petitgoue with a smile on his face. We went out and beat Platteville 17 times in a row.
The Maine Principals’ Association (MPA) and
MaxPreps have announced a three-year partnership agreement that will enable the
MPA to provide a customized sports information platform for its member
schools.
MaxPreps and the MPA will offer a publishing
platform across desktop, tablet and mobile that will streamline the process of
managing sports statistics for its member schools as well as publishing
schedules, rosters, standings, and scores in one location for all of Maine’s
high school sports fans.
Beginning with the Winter 2021 season, coaches
will be encouraged to submit statistics to MaxPreps after each game to
accurately track regular-season standings and create statewide

MEDFORD, Ore. With in-person learning now back on the table, the Medford School Board is lobbying Governor Brown, state health officials, and the OSAA for a return to school sports and other activities.
After voting to approve the action at a February 4 meeting, the Medford School District Board of Education released a letter urging officials to allow for athletics and other extracurricular activities to resume.
A student athlete sparked national change after being disqualified from a volleyball match for wearing a hijab
US high school volleyball players no longer need approval to wear religious head coverings during matches, thanks to a 14-year-old Muslim player who inspired the rule change.
The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), which sets competition rules for most US high school sports, announced on Thursday the new rule and said it could extend to other sports.
Support for the rule change swelled in September after Najah Aqeel, a freshman at Valor Collegiate Prep in Nashville, Tennessee, was disqualified from a volleyball match for wearing a hijab or headscarf.
