May 28, 2021 04:22:32 PM The Ministry of Health did not direct Speaker Ratu Epeli Nailatikau to cancel Parliament, says National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad. Prof Prasad said the Ministry only directed for the closure of the offices and chambers. “This is again contrary to the decision to allow parliament to sit virtually. It renders this process meaningless”. “We know that the Prime Minister wanted parliament to sit virtually because it wouldn’t be interrupted by any lockdown”. “Here we have no lockdown. A staff has been identified as a primary contact of a COVID-19 positive case”. “While we understand the need to close parliament and put staff into self-isolation, we certainly don’t agree with the cancellation”.
