Kano tricycle riders call off strike as state NLC intervenes

Share The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kano  State, has  broker peace between  the state government and the  tricycle riders over N100 levy imposed by the state government, while their strike  which   entered day 2  on Tuesday  has been  called off by  the tricycles riders . According to  the   resolution which gave  birth to the calling off of the strike, the  chairman of NLC  in the state,  Kabiru Ado Minjibir, said all tricycle riders are to pay the  sum of N100 daily tax as provided by the state Revenue Board Laws, but with some adjustments The NLC boss disclosed in  a  resolution  reached at  a  meeting which lasted for  about  two hours,  adding  that  the first payment of N100 should be done through Remita to enable data captured in Kano Revenue Board/KARATO Cyber, which  would be done  within two weeks.

Corps members key to achieving Mambilla power project —North-East govs

Share Representatives of the North-East Governors’ Forum have described the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme as a critical stakeholder in the actualisation of the multibillion naira Mambila Hydro-power project. The group, which is a fact-finding committee constituted by governors of the six states in the North-East, revealed that corps members’ potential is very strategic to the power project. The leader of the delegation, Mijinyawa Yahaya, representing Gombe State stated this when he led other members of the group on a courtesy visit to the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his office in Abuja. Other members of the delegation are  Stephen Abubakar  (Bauchi State);  Bukar Buni (Yobe State); Ibrahim Njidda (Borno State); Mr John Yarafa (Taraba State); Babayola Toungo (Adamawa State) and the Managing Director, Hypertech, Mustapha Muhammed.

Owolowo inaugurates officers as Oyo gov pledges support for trade groups

Share The Oyo State governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has said that the state governor will continue to partner with trade groups for businesses to thrive in the state. Makinde stated this through his Special Adviser on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs),  Kunle Yusuf, during the inauguration of the new executive of the Owolowo Unit of the National Association of Cattle Breeders and Dealers, Oyo State, recently. The governor also promised to continue to support trade associations with loans and making policies that would make it easier for them to conduct their businesses with ease. Among those inaugurated are Alhaji Adebayo Dauda (chairman); Alhaji Olalere Sulaimon (vice chairman); Alhaji Rafiu Ajibade (general secretary);  Alhaja Tejumole Modinat (treasurer),  Alhaji Azeez Wasiu (vice general secretary); Alhaji Adedoyin Hammed (public relations officer); Alhaji Adeola Wasiu ( chief whip), among others.

Share The Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has admonished the new Obalaaye of Ejiyan-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of the state, Oba Adekunle Adesesan Adepoju, to see his ascension to the throne as a divine call to service. Fayemi, who made the call while presenting the staff of office and instrument of appointment to Oba Adepoju urged members of the community to live in peace with the neighbouring communities of Ipoti-Ekiti and Owatedo-Ekiti.
