Senators Heinrich, Barrasso And Reps. Castor, Womack Reintroduce Bipartisan, Bicameral Local Radio Freedom Act Congressional News: WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) reintroduced the bipartisan Local Radio Freedom Act, a resolution declaring that Congress should not impose any new performance fee, tax, royalty, or other charges that create economic hardships for locally-owned radio stations. The provision for public broadcasting in the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Act, 2005 completes the circle by providing for an entity that is legally mandated to broadcast with the public interest at heart.
