The media and the scientific community have been awash with reports associating heavy consumption of ‘hot’ coffee with glaucoma and colorectal cancer.
The studies have raised concerns among regular coffee drinkers. The confusion comes from earlier studies that demonstrated that drinking coffee helps to prevent liver damage, several cancers, type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases.
The statement only said a new date will be announced in due course.
Buhari and members of his family routinely travel to the UK for medical treatment amidst the abysmal state of health care and poorly equipped hospitals in Nigeria.
In March, the Nigerian leader went to the UK for what the Presidency described as a “routine” check-up.
The trip sparked off a controversy as it coincided with the strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
Since he assumed office on May 29, 2015, Buhari has embarked on medical trips abroad at least five times, covering a period of no fewer than 170 days of the five years he had been in power.

NARD laments accumulated salaries, says FG fails to fulfil promise
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), will on Friday proceed to London for “a scheduled medical follow-up.”
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this on Thursday in a statement titled, ‘President Buhari off to London Friday for medical follow-up.’
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed to London, the United Kingdom on Friday, June 25, 2021, for a scheduled medical follow-up.
“He is due back in the country during the second week of July, 2021.”
