Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has reacted to reports of him paying $5million bribe to the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Reports had it that Akpabio allegedly bribed Malami, who is the Minister of Justice with $5million to secure the appointment of a Sole Administrator for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
But, Malami had denied the report, saying those behind the report should provide evidence to backup their claim.
Reacting, Akapbio also described the reports as false.
A statement by Akapbio’s Chief Press Secretary, Anietie Ekong, insisted that the report was the handiwork of mischief-makers.
COVID-19: Parents told not to send children to schools

Olusegun Bamgbose, National Coordinator, Concerned Advocates for Good Governance, CAGG, has warned parents in the country against sending their children to school as the Federal Government insists on Monday, January 18, 2021, resumption date.
Bamgbose warned that the government’s insistence to reopen schools at this point when the number of COVID-19 cases is increasing on a daily basis is a very big risk.
According to him, the government may not cope with the situation in the long run.
Bamgbose had earlier warned the Federal Government of the possible danger of opening schools at this critical moment.

The Alliance for Surviving COVID-19 And Beyond (ASCAB) and other unions of health workers have said Nigeria is in a state of war with the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes amidst the recent surge in COVID-19 cases in Nigeria with over 100, 000 confirmed cases.
Alliance on Surviving COVID-19 And Beyond (ASCAB) is a coalition of over 80 civil society organisations (CSOs) and organised labour, led by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).

Amidst the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent spike in infection cases, Nigerian health workers have called for an increase in their hazard allowance as they are major front liners in the fight against the pandemic.
Speaking at a webinar recently, the President of the
Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Innocent Ujah, said all health workers are being paid N5,000 a month as hazard allowance, a sum he described as degrading and insulting.
“At the moment, health workers are being paid N5,000 as hazard allowance despite an increased risk in dying and ill health. This is an insult,” he said.
