RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) The line of health care workers and those eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine wrapped around the block outside a clinic in Riverside Wednesday morning. Some people said they had to wait for more than an hour and a half. What s the point of making an appointment if we all have to wait in this line, said one Temecula resident whose mother tried to sign up for an appointment online, only to be told she was placed on a waiting list and had to register again later.
The state of Michigan selected Meijer as an initial pharmacy partner to help administer COVID-19 vaccines, the company and Gov. Turkish health regulators approved the Chinese Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine for emergency use on Wednesday, clearing the way for a mass vaccination program to begin on Thursday.
“The scientific data has been evaluated and 14-day testing of samples taken from the batches that have arrived have been examined in our laboratories. Emergency use authorization has been issued, the Turkish Drug and Medical Device Administration said in a statement.

Covid increased US death rate significantly in second quarter of 2020, according to new CDC data

Covid-19 caused a significant jump in the US death rate in the second quarter of 2020
The age-adjusted all-cause mortality rate was 769 per 100,000 in the first quarter of 2020 and rose to 840 in the second quarter of the year. Comparatively, the death rate for the second quarter of 2019 was 702 per 100,000.
The report shows that mortality rose significantly in 2020, but it’s an incomplete snapshot of the pandemic since data for only the first two quarters of 2020 are currently available.
