ISLAMABAD: Healthcare workers on Monday closed vaccination centers and outpatient departments of the public health facilities in the federal capital in protest against nonpayment of health risk allowance.
When contacted, Grand Health Alliance Chairman Dr Asfandyar Khan confirmed to
Dawn that the employees had decided to keep the vaccination centres closed till the resolution of allowance issue.
“Employees are also demanding that the Secretary NHS Amer Ashraf Khuwaja should be removed as funds for the allowance lapsed because of him,” he said.
Dr Asfandyar said over all Rs900 million, including Rs480 million allocated for the allowance, lapsed as Ministry of NHS failed to utilise them.

Ministers, political leaders’ additional security withdrawn

ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: The Cabinet Division and Islamabad police have pulled additional security provided to federal ministers, leaders of different political parties and officials, sources informed Geo News on Sunday.
Personnel have been pulled back from the security details of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, and five federal ministers. The federal ministers will now have only two security personnel for their protocol. Three security officials, out of five, have been withdrawn from the security details of the above-mentioned. However, the security detail of Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani will remain unchanged.

ISLAMABAD: The Cabinet Division and Islamabad police have pulled additional security provided to federal ministers, sources have told Geo News, days after Prime Minister Imran Khan vowed to reduce the security and protocol, which he criticised as a colonial legacy.
Among the dignitaries who are affected by the slimmed down security measures are National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, NA Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri, and five federal ministers, Geo News reported on Sunday.
Federal Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari and Defence Minister Pervez Khattak are among several ministers who have had their security details reduced, sources added.
