Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to form a parliamentary committee for electoral reforms, it emerged on Tuesday. In a meeting with renowned legal expert Barrister Ali Zafar, the prime minister said that the country needs to work on electoral reforms “on a war footing”. “We have learnt a lot from what occurred during the Senate elections,” PM Imran Khan said. “We will put a stop to malpractices and the use of money in the race,” he added. The prime minister also made clear the government’s plans with regard to Senate proceedings. “The government will work with all political parties in the Senate,” he said. He expressed the hope that all pending legislation in the Upper House will be reviewed soon. The premier directed Barrister Zafar to get in touch with all political parties that have representatives in the Senate. NA Speaker to leave for Afghanistan tomorrow on three-day visit

National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser will leave for Afghanistan tomorrow on a three-day visit with a nine-member parliamentary delegation on the special invitation of his Counterpart of Afghanistan s Wolesi Jirga Mir Rehman Rahmani.
The purpose of the visit is to bring the two nations closer, improve bilateral relations, trade and investment, and regional peace.
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Monday stressed the need for taking immediate measures to save the agriculture sector from the adverse impact of climate change and help maintain the country’s food safety and security.
Chairing a meeting of the National Assembly Special Committee on Agricultural Products, he called for implementing the recommendations of the committee in its letter and spirit in order to revive and develop the agriculture sector on modern techniques and achieve sustainable economic development in the country.
Prosperity of the country was linked with the prosperity of local farmers, he said adding that very possible measures must be ensured to revive and develop national agriculture sector.

PESHAWAR/SWABI: Police have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of Swat Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) judge and his three family members as they were laid to rest in Peshawar on Monday.
Swat ATC Judge Aftab Afridi was gunned down along with his wife, daughter-in-law and a minor grandson near Swabi Interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Sunday evening by unidentified assailants.
On Monday, the funeral prayers of the slain judge and his family members were offered in Pajjagi Road area of Peshawar that were attended by a large number of people including lawyers.
