ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan Monday called on all parties to ensure the sanctity of Parliament and adherence to democratic values and said parliamentary system was important for legislation and continuity of democracy in the country.
Prime minister observed this during a meeting with National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, who called on him here on Monday. The meeting discussed in detail the parliamentary system of the country.
The prime minister said that the Parliament was not only important for legislation but also for the continuity of democracy and was the largest constitutional forum in the country. “All parties must ensure the sanctity of parliament and adherence to democratic values,” he emphasised.

Federal Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Monday underscored the importance of enhancing trade activities with Afghanistan saying it will bring economic prosperity for both the countries.
Chairing the seventh meeting of Executive Committee of Pakistan Afghanistan Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Parliament House, Khattak observed that facilitating the Afghan traders would increase trade volume between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He maintained that implementing the recommendations of Pak-Afghan Trade and Investment Forum 2020, which was organised on the special initiative of National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser, would facilitate traders on both sides of the border.

Islamabad, Dec 19 : Asad Umar, Pakistan s Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, announced that he has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, joining a list of top politicians to be infected with the disease.
In a tweet late Friday night, the Minister said: Just got my Covid test result and it is positive. Will be isolating at home.
Umar also heads the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), a national body that includes civil, military and health experts formed to strategise against and defeat the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
