KUALA LUMPUR: A trader was fined RM3,000 in default three months’ jail by the Selayang Magistrate’s Court here, today after he pleaded guilty to molesting his ex-girlfriend for lying about her relationship status with her husband.
Magistrate Nik Mohd Fadli Nik Azlan meted out the sentence on Robert Chew, 36, after he pleaded guilty to using criminal force against the 33-year-old woman with the intention to outrage her modesty, at a parking lot near a shop in Sri Gombak here, at 6.30pm on April 7, 2020.
The charge was framed under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if convicted.

Kota Kinabalu: Two women were fined for illegal gambling.
Jahidah Bahinding, 41, and Siti Rahmatiah Musih, 28, pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to the charge against them on Monday.
Jahidah was fined RM800 or two weeks’ jail for having a piece of paper containing 4D numbers which was illegal.

She committed the offence at 4.35pm on Aug 8, 2020 at the Pintu A2 in Karamunsing Complex, here.
The offence, under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to six months’ jail, or both, on conviction.
Meanwhile, Siti Rahmatiah was ordered to pay a fine of RM1,000 or three months’ jail for online gambling at 11.15am on Oct 11, 2020 at an unnumbered premises in Ruang Singgah Mata 1, Asia City, here.

LAHAD DATU: Three siblings, who “snatched” their father’s remains from the Lahad Datu Hospital last Wednesday, were fined RM1,000 each by the Magistrate s Court here Monday for obstructing health officers from discharging their duties to screen the body for Covid-19.
Magistrate Ryan Sagirann Rayner Jr. meted out the sentence on twin brothers Said Jipri and Sabri, 27, and their sister Jenrey, 26, after they pleaded guilty to the charge.
They were charged with obstructing Mohamad Izwan Ahmad Saibi, an officer authorised by the Ministry of Health, to perform his duties at the Patient Under Investigation (PUI) Zone, Emergency Department of the Lahad Datu Hospital, at 8.30pm, last Jan 20.

KOTA BHARU, Jan 24 A bomoh pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here today to sexually assaulting a woman who had approached him for treatment.
Wan Ismail Wan Md Zain, 53, made the plea before Judge Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin.
He was charged under Section 377CA of the Penal Code with having sexual connection using an object on the 28-year-old female patient in a house in Kampung Permatang Pusu, here, at 8.50pm last January 12.
