Teachers from DIETs shifted to govt colleges of education sans NCTE nod

Move to ensure continuity of student admissions The Department of Higher Education is understood to have transferred 31 lecturers from DIETs (District Institute of Education and Training) to government colleges of teacher education without the official sanction of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). The National Council for Teacher Education has, so far, not given any written consent to the request made to that effect by the Higher Education Department of Tamil Nadu, official sources said. The Higher Education Department had effected the transfers earlier this year to ensure continuity of student admissions in the government colleges of teacher education during this academic year, after the NCTE barred admissions citing faculty shortage.
